Idaho Association of TRiO Professionals
The impact of federal Department of Education TRiO grants on education in the state of Idaho is tremendous. At the end of the 2003 fiscal year, five public Idaho colleges and universities were funded to prepare over 7,500 low-income, first generation, disabled, and underrepresented students and adults for college.
Over $5.4 million of federal money funds 21 TRiO programs in Idaho.
The purpose of the Idaho Association of TRiO Professionals is to further the expansion of educational opportunity programs throughout the state of Idaho by:
- furthering communication and cooperation among Idaho TRiO professionals;
- furthering public awareness, at the state level, of the needs of disadvantaged students enrolled in, or aspiring to, post secondary education;
- forming coalitions with other organizations that have similar purposes relative to ethnic, minority, and/or disadvantaged groups;
- conducting meetings, research and evaluation, scholarly publications, and other educational and charitable activities dealing with issues related to educational opportunity programs.
